Our Team
Kenneth Wallam
Director
I’m a young Wadjak Nyoongar man from Fremantle.
I believe in doing everything with a pure heart & honest intentions.
My philosophy is Trying to achieve and express a greater connection throughout the community and culture through future upcoming projects not only to bridge a gap but also so our indigenous people and elders know we are not lost and will forever be remembered and embraced.
Douglas Dare
Director
With over 30 years of diverse experience spanning construction, architecture, and landscape design, Douglas brings a wealth of expertise to Yarning Circles WA. His portfolio includes projects for community groups, schools, and not-for-profit organizations.
“Having spent my formative years immersed in the landscapes of a small rural community and the suburbs of Perth, I developed a profound appreciation for the natural world. These early experiences continue to shape my professional journey in architecture and landscape design, reinforcing my belief in the importance of fostering connections with nature. In today’s world, characterized by increasing disconnection from the environment, I am driven to create spaces that facilitate a meaningful reconnection with the natural world.
Serving as a director at Yarning Circles WA is not just a professional role for me; it’s a commitment to reconciliation and a deeply personal journey of learning. Yarning Circles WA embodies principles of cultural respect and community empowerment that resonate deeply with me. I am grateful to be part of a team offering much-needed sacred spaces for healing and transformation; environments where stories are shared, knowledge is exchanged and communities are supported to flourish through mutual respect and understanding.”
Terry Farrell
Director
I grew up in the magnificent Tuart Forests of Perth’s coastal plains and spent my childhood years playing amongst the local swaps and bushland and then of course off to the beach.
These early experiences of being in nature had a profound effect on me and influenced much of my life’s work. I now know that this is, and has been for thousands of years, the lands of the Mooro Nyoongar Boodjar which is within the Wadjak Boodjar and in turn within the greater Noongar Boodjar.
I am a registered architect and have enjoyed a career working with local communities and talented artists in the creation of a variety of projects. Some of these projects have won both state and Australian wide awards of excellence.
